This man must be borderline certifiable, does he not understand the word deterrent.
Who knows what threats we might face in the next decade or two.

//While it has no more permanently stationed nuclear weapons as of 1984, Canada continues to cooperate with the United States and its nuclear weapons program. Canada allows testing of nuclear weapon delivery systems; nuclear weapon carrying vessels are permitted to visit Canadian ports; and aircraft carrying nuclear warheads are permitted to fly in Canadian airspace with the permission of the Canadian government.[33] There is, however, popular objection to this federal policy. Over 60% of Canadians live in cities or areas designated “Nuclear Weapons Free”, reflecting a contemporary disinclination towards nuclear weapons in Canada.[33] Canada also continues to remain under the NATO 'nuclear umbrella'; even after disarming itself in 1984, Canada has maintained support for nuclear armed nations as doing otherwise would be counter to Canadian NATO commitments.[34]//

Hadn't thought of that way Retro..........perhaps the Commonwealth can help us shoulder the massive financial burden of replacing Trident then !

//Are still in Hospital my friend ?//

Not got there yet. It all kicks off next week for two weeks. That is the cardio version operation on the ticker.
The aortic stent insertion into the aneurism follows,I hope, very soon after. The procedure discussion will be 4th March with the head honcho of vascular surgery at St Georges, Tooting.
Thanks for your enquiry. No doubt Mrs retro ,who has been trained to use AB in my absence, will give regular bulletins to Margo as to my progress when I am hospitalised.

Thanks Retro !

Not a problem if it helps to open the eyes of those who cannot/will not see.
;o)
what hypo said, they are there as a last resort, if we have no choice but to save our country by using them. If a future nuclear power decided to black mail us, that sort of thing. I know the left cannot do paradoxical thinking but essentially you need them so you don't need them. Usual irrelevant BS from the left. on here.

The UK have never been found wanting when requiring assistance in two world conflicts from our Commonwealth countries. Their young and finest fell in the battlefields of Europe and beyond.
They don't owe us anything as far as I am concerned and have earned what protection we can afford them with our deterrents.Glad I haven't suffered memory loss yet.
Nukes technology is held by few countries, whose govs keep tight control. N. Korea, India & Pakistan are the 'loose cannons' imo. Hopefully Trident is more powerful than wayward volitile countries.
Good luck Retro with your ops. Look forward to your early return, fit, healthy & strong. x
