what I don't understand is that if I was one of them who wanted to get to Britain, Calais etc is the last place I'd go.
But the thing is, 3Ts, they look at a map (or talk to their mates), see it is only 22 miles across the water with dozens of crossings daily, learn about the Chunnel and the additional opportunities that presents, so where else would they go?

The bulldozing of the camp is a waste of time. They will simply decamp elsewhere (as is evident). Having said that, it is a problem for the French which has been brought about by the EU’s porous external borders and the (hopefully soon to be ditched) Schengen Agreement which the French signed up to. They are now reaping the rewards of that folly, against which they were adequately warned when Schengen was being constructed.

Its the residents of Dunkirk & Calais I feel sorry for, having them in your Town everyday/night must be hell!

There are two types of migrants/clandestines. The people arriving in boats in Greece are mostly from Syria and are fleeing war in their country and are therefore refugees that have papers and money and will be registered and sent to whichever country will take them with the view to returning to their country. The illegals in Calais and other ports do not have any papers etc and should have registered at their entry point into Europe in order to claim asylum. IMO the French and other governments should have moved them on before they took root in their makeshift camps or not allowed them to make the journey to the port.
