Morning everyone. Ok so I've had this unbearable itching on my face for months and months now - mainly my nose strangely enough but occasionally the rest of the face. It feels like I've got thousands of spiders crawling on my skin is the only way I can describe it. It's such a horrendous feeling that I've scratched my face/nose to the point of breaking the skin. I've tried antihistamines but they make no difference . I've been to the doctors twice but he just says he can't see anything and maybe it's an allergic reaction but I can't carry on like this. Has anybody every experienced this or heard of it?? X

yep that describes it exactly. Really don't know what's causing mine though. Sounds as though it's very difficult to stop it. I'm on several medications but nothing new. I've an under active thyroid and it does mention thyroid problems. Haven't changed any creams etc
Hi Smow, I have a thyroid problem. There is a connection to tyrosine and itching. May be it's the dose you are on or the particular make of tyrosine? .. http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/hypothyroidism-discussions/general-support/10038004-itching-is-driving-me-bonkers
'Thyroxine'

Hmm that's interesting. I've been on thyroxine for 10 yrs
As mentioned hormones play a role in this too, very common from the time of the perimenopause.
Are you having at least yearly checks on your thyroid level smow? Are you feeling o.k in yourself? I did suffer itching connected to my thyroid once a long time ago in the crook of my arm. I seem to remember my dosage was wrong.
Been advised to use Aveeno, it contains Colloidal Oatmeal, started yesterday, will report back after a week.
Dead chuffed here, been applying this cream a couple of times a day, all over face, and paying particular attention round nose area and just the inside of nostril. Virtually no itching, particularly through the night, which was driving me batty at times.
