Can there be a facility for us to edit the answers we've given after we've posted them please?

I do mean after we've already posted them, as in after we've done that 'preview your post' thingy which lets you see it's layout.

Sometimes it needs to be done. Can't think of anything right at this minute on this site as an example, but I've done it on other sites where I could change my reply before anyone else had replied to mine. Normally I've deleted it.

Please give us this facility!!

Good Idea!
hmm, so you can go back and add 'everyone who's answered this is a complete twonk' to your question... well, this is supposed to be an archive of Qs and As, and it already looks odd enough when some answers are removed from the middle of a thread. I say let sleeping questions lie.
Sorry, no, if you read the answer properly in the first place, why would you need to go back and edit it. You have your right to an opinion, why change it. Just post again and say, I have more to add. Nothing wrong in that.

No! Sometimes you've answered inappropriately and only realised the second after youve pressed send, sllpelled suff wrong when trying to be pedantic, etc etc. Don't go down the 'every answer I give is perfect' route, cos we all know the pain of wishing we could post a correctional post afterwards if its something really daft like a silly spelling.
NiceCupOfTea, I feal yore pane.

D'oh!

Sorry, bad joke, but I can't take it back now . . .

Oh but don't you wish you could......
There's not even a Report this answer tab for reporting my own answer! But you can!

. . . D'oh!
Well, where is the answer and why hasn't this been done yet? Of course you should be able to edit.
Too many drawbacks. You can just post a correction. Or take care to read your post before you press submit
