There's also a good chance that Charles takes his clogs before his Mama, the last time that happened being George II to George III - with us missing out on a King Arthur.

Not quite, we missed out on a King Frederick. Had he not predeceased his father Henry VII would have been succeeded by King Arthur and not Henry VIII. A few folk might have kept their heads a little longer.
Clare, jackdaw is right, you have it the cause and effect the wrong way round.

George VII is the preferred moniker for Charles III - after all, Charley Rexs in the past haven't done that well.
mikey loves to disrespect HM, probably his socialist principles. It must make him feel better.
sorry, you are right, it was Fred and Henry VII for Arthur.

As to other names for the Queen, Private Eye's Brenda is perhaps more fitting than Betty.
Question Author
Apparently Diana used to refer to the Queen privately as Brenda.

Question Author

Coming back to the Republican proposition, who would you want for President? Bliar? Brown? Milliband? Cameron?

I love her and good luck to her, it will be a sorry day indeed when we lose her.
It'll be a massive day of mourning.
How about the Trouser Press, venator.....Gawd help us, even as Prime Minister....last one out, turn the lights off.
"" it will be a sad day when we lose her. Oh yes. What an impact it will have on our daily lives !!!!!!

It is a sad but inevitable fact that the next decade or so will see a spate of royal funerals. Apart from HM and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, those of the Queen's generation are now elderly. The Duke and Duchess of Kent are in their 80's, Princess Alexandra of Kent is almost there; the youngest is the Duke (Prince Richard) of Gloucester at a young 72.
Apologies Anne for miscounting, screen blurs after a certain amount of magnification.
That's true Jackdaw, one thing about life is sure - it ends in death.
Question Author
Magnification? Is that what you call it, Mamy? I call it alcohol.
Anne knows I think - I am partially sighted so struggle to read somewhat.

Not had a drinky yet today :-)
