In site of the recent enthusiasm for singing the French National Anthem, it seems more of us are wanting to turn our backs on Europe.

I am not at all surprised. We can be friends and allies of European countries without being members of a European union. I very much hope that this opinion prevails.
Yep.

The staying in campaign was always going to ge doomed when the useless and hapless Cameron said he was going to give it his all.
not surprising really, in the face of EU stupidity even the most ardent EUphile must be doubting. Don't see many defending the EU on here like we used to. It's a deeply flawed organisation that cannot possibly work.
We need to get out to secure our borders...then the PM can deal with the terrorist threat already here.

Until then we are in for trouble...we cannot risk staying in with the impending Turkey soon to join.not if butwhen..

If the other countries arent smart enough to realise the danger that Adolf Merkel represents then they deserve all they get....she will destroy the heart , soul and identity of all the nations involved...her empire will not allow or tolerate any form of "nation state identity" except that which her and her poisonous cohorts force upon them.... they will also be overwhelmed with muslims if she gets her way...a people that will out breed us and slowly start taking over...

Thats just for starters...

I am a bit puzzled - I've never heard of this Adolf Merkel.
"We can be friends and allies of European countries without being members of a European union. I very much hope that this opinion prevails"

we have been trading with them for thousands of years, theres no need for it to stop....

dont forget the eussr need us, well they need our money to support their hairbrained empire, they will do anything just about to keep us in...Dave will get some concessions but they will soon do a volte face at the earliest opportunity...

well you have now ! shes the one who will have you marching to the tune of her jackboots...

Did we not originally sign up to the EEC (European Economic Community)?
I might have missed it but I don't remember us signing up to anything handing control of the UK to Brussels.
She'll be emigrating herself soon after the first terrorist attack in Germany.
// I might have missed it but I don't remember us signing up to anything handing control of the UK to Brussels. //

It must have been while you were swooning at the goddess Thatcher. She and Major sined us up for the EU Timeshare.
I've been about as EU-philic as you get on this site at times -- but that's tended to be more about the principle than the practice. In practice, lately, it's not working very well. Thing is that my answer to that -- more integration, not less -- is precisely the opposite of most other people's, and in particular the opposite of Cameron's proposed renegotiations.

2017 remains a way off yet and I still feel it's likely that the devil we know will prevail, and we'll end up staying. Rather like the Scottish Independence movement, though, Brexit will find it easier to gain momentum.

Speaking of Scottish Independence, the EU issue could mix in with that too still and I'm a little anxious that if there is a split decision on whether to stay or go that things will boil over between Scottish and English. There is no reason for them to, in theory -- democracy has to have a loser -- but in practice I doubt it will work out so easily!

I can't say I'm looking forward to the referendum, anyway. Too much riding on it.
I never wanted in to start with so I'll be happy to be out.
How many Brits sing the rude version of the French anthem?
The one that starts ' A Frenchman went to the Lavatory so that he could have a *** Good S***'.
Nice one, Eddie. Have you got a link to the rest of it?
Don't bother, Eddie. Just found it on Google.

Jack, google

//A Frenchman went to the Lavatory so that he could have a//

Ah, ok!
I will always support any country and it's people targeted by bigoted eejits, but I don't need to be part of the vile EU to do that and show supprt. I'll be voting a gigantic NOOOOOOOOO when the referendum is done...IF it's done. As we all know, Cammy can be rather "pigheaded" and is a master of the U-turns. As for that Angela Meerkat... run fat bird run... just go!
I'm with you, janbee, perhaps they should have that on the ballot paper, Yes, No, gigantic No!
"bigoted eejits,"

just ran that through google translate, it came up with "poeple whos views I dont agree with, therefore..."
