Russians In Sharm

I heard on the radio this morning that they are over 79,000 Russians in Sharm and it might be weeks before they can get home !

I never knew this place existed ::: Hurghada International Airport.

Why can't people be taken to this airport and flown home from there ? It doesn't look very far from Sharm, but I am quite prepared to be told differently.

the point on women is true, not sure now where one can go in the what a friend of mine described the Red Sea - the Arshhole of the Middle East....what with security deteriorating in the north, the Wahibis to the East, Yemen/Aden and then the pirates out of Somalia, the whole area is one massive write-off...........

that's part of the issue, the loss of the natural, wild habitat....to be swamped by Brits, Russians, Dutch, Germans, Belgies and the rest.....most of which do not have an idea of what lies beneath those waters....I remember a Cousteau documentary that was absolutely amazing.....

Russians fly into Cairo and then onto Hurghada
and so will have to issue about getting back to the motherland

I think the Egyptians have been wrong footed in their response

if it was that simple it would be done.

DT, serious divers are people for whom narrow underground caves and descents under the thick ice of Scandinavia present a challenge and hold no fears. My husband, an instructor, is one such diver – potty, in my opinion. Me? I’m a fair weather holiday diver, so not an expert by any means - but I’m well aware that serious diving is not all about sunshine, warm water, and untouched coral reefs.

I used to go in for potholes - even though I did some mountain death crew, I preferred being underground than on a cliff.....odd - bit like diving perhaps! Each to their own. However, even though I wouldn't classify myself as an experienced diver, I thoroughly enjoyed what I saw of the Saudi waters, limited that may have been. Holidays in the lower Red Sea, no way though, even having been to Somalia, Djibouti, Aden, lower Saudi and Eritrea.

I was in Sharm 30 years ago before it was in any way touristy. Now, I wouldn't dream of going there even before this latest bomb fiasco. It's not the first time in Sharm either. There were bombs a few years ago in the resort.These days, it's Sharm El-Chav !
