I know the rules have changed slightly but not quite sure in what way..

The scenario...my cousin traveled to pick up his new car. It was a 7 hour journey due to delays. On the drive back he felt really sleepy behind the wheel so pulled into motorway services. He ended up falling asleep for a few hours.

Today he got a call from the previous owner saying he'd got a parking charge from Paid Parking Company for £100!! Surely that is too steep? What course of action should he take?

I read of a case fairly recently, where a man was in the same situations as your cousin , ummmm. He wrote a very eloquent letter to the service station saying something along the lines of "if a person can't pull into a service station to rest when he's feeling tired in order to avoid a possible accident, then I question your right to a licence for advertising yourself as such, and I will write to the appropriate authorities to look into whether you should have such a license." He wrote it much more eloquently than me, of course. He received a letter soon after saying the case was dropped. Your cousin should try that.

I haven't got another thread on it, Methyl. Because of the last thread I was thinking that maybe £100 was disproportionate.

Clover - I'm tempted to email the traffic police and ask their advice as to what to do when you feel sleepy behind the wheel. If people get hit with £100 charges they'll be less likely to pull in.....putting every person using the motorway at risk!
parking charges again, who, you or him ? surely you are not asking this question on behalf of your " cousin " lol
