I agree - apart from any damage which lightning might cause.

If you had had your home damaged and flooded by torrential rain and storms I don't think you would be so keen :)
It's OK when it's not happening to you !.
I spent nigh on a year dreading the sound of thunder and pouring rain .And the insurance companies won't pay out for acts of God !

Last year we had a huge bonfire party in our garden. A firework fell over on its side and whizzed straight through the open door of the house and into the hall. It just missed someone's head - and embedded itself in a wall!!!! Seriously!

No - one of ours trees didn't look so healthy after it'd been struck by lightning - but never mind. I still enjoy watching a good storm. Sorry to hear about the flooding though, Shaney. The thought of a flooded home is bad enough, but when it actually happens, it must be heartbreaking.

shaneystar- i think you should defo ask him!! I used to live in the country and i have seen just what thunder storms can do. One halloween we had some kids come to our door and asked for trick or treat!! My mum said we didnt have anything for them and a minute later they put a lit firework through the letterbox!! Little b's .!
Fireworks are dangerous things in the wrong hands. I like watching them as long as it's organised such as a display or something .They always do a lovely one here on the clifftop.
But then you've got the dimwits who chuck them over your fence willy nilly .This was always a worry when we had the dog.He couldn't cross his legs all night ! So I used to have to hover around in the garden with him.I was more frightened than he was !
Anyway this old girl is off to bed .....Nite Nite .

Where do you live taliesin? Highest frequency of thunderstorms in UK is in East Anglia and the lowland East Midlands, with London/South East not far behind.

Places north and west of a line roughly from Bristol to Middlesbrough have a far lower incidence of thunderstorms.

Maybe you live in "wrong" area?
