As this is in CB and your Q has been answered...

My OH fixed our chimney. With hindsight it was quite funny as we're both scared of heights. I started panicking and made our son go out with him. My son just said 'so if he falls he can kill me too'

I went out and told them to ring me when it was done!!

No way am I getting up on my roof. My neighbour fell of the ladder when cleaning his guttering and was taken to hospital by air ambulance with a broken back.

It turns me sick to see anyone on a roof these days. I don't even have my long ladders any more.
Get up there, hc. It'll get your blood pumping!

Booga orf, as we say round here
My neighbour also recently fell off a ladder and spent 6 weeks in hospital all over Xmas and NY with a broken pelvis, arm and some ribs. Leave it to someone else to fall off ;-)
I'm the same. I get a sickly feeling come over me.

I got stuck in the loft once because I was scared to come down the ladder. It wasn't the ladder so much, it's the fact it's by the stairwell and you know if you fall you might end up over the banister.

I'm a clumsy person :-)

I can't even watch somebody stood on the edge of a cliff or high building on tv without feeling sick.

I'm fine in a helicopter, though
Just reading about your loft ladder gives me the shivers ummmmm
Prudie....I posted on another thread. My uncle fell off scaffolding, 30 ft, He shattered his arms and his skull. He had water on the brain, had to be kept in a dark room for weeks....horrible.

He's fine now...just gets occasional aches and pains, it's very obvious that he's a serious accident though.
Lol hc...I'm the same. Once we took this really scenic route and my friends all went to the cliffs edge. I got about a metre from the edge then got down on my hands and knees and crawled the rest of the way.

When I feel height weezy my legs feel a bit wobbly. I don't trust myself staying upright.

We must be twinnies, ummmmm. Not identical, obviously
I shudder when Mr P gets on top of the shed! I'm scared of height since he fell off a ladder couple of years ago while reaching over for something, and broke his wrist. I wont leave the house if I know he about to climb, as I'm dreading something may happen again.
2 polish gents, 2days & scaffold for 1 chimney cost me £300

Excellent, tambo. Sadly we have no Polish persons here.
They travel....where do you live
Hi hc. Thanks for the update. I'm glad that quote came out Ok. It shows you're not being stitched up :o)

Best seats in the house - up at roof level :o)

The guy I work with went very quiet one day while we were re-roofing something. I climbed up onto the roof to look for him. It was a beautiful, hot summer's day. He was bivouac-ed up behind a chimney with his feet up on the stack........ with a bottle of cider ...... asleep!

It would have been rude to disturb him. I just hitched my foot around a batten, got comfortable, and took in the sunshine :o)

Builder, you've got more nerve than me
Thats about 3hrs from here. If youre really stuck I could put the job to them. Give a throwaway email?
Actually, gang, proper scaffolding is extremely safe. In fact, properly rigged ladders and towers are as well.

Accidents do happen of course, but, most people who've had a height-related mishap will often admit that it was a result of trying to do something very silly.
