when the blue tits in my garden have vacated their box will they come back again this year? if not will the box need cleaning before next spring?

Blue Tits only have a single brood each year so when they are gone the nestbox will need cleaning to remove the old nest and any addled eggs and to clear it of any parasites so that the birds will have a clean box in the spring. This is best carried out in the autumn as some birds, such as Wrens or even tits, may use the nextbox for roosting during the cold winter months.
