Best website for travel info please

I have to drive to Yorkshire tomorrow and I have spent best part of a couple of hours trying to work out the best route.
Im in Perthshire and have to get to Thirsk.
Rail journey -for which I have tickets for Friday would appear to out the equation -cant find a a link anywhere for that either hence the reason i'm taking the car.
Im at the end of my tether -can anyone please help me?

Sorry for being tardy in replying as i just fired right on to the sites.
Thank you so much for the links -looks like i'm gonna have to go by rail on Friday.The line would appear to be open by tomorrow from Edinburgh to Newcastle so Friday would seem to be a good bet.
Im not going to chance the roads - far too dodgy considering I freak at the thought of driving on the motorway to Edinburgh- let alone Yorkshire- in good weather !

try the aa route planner ,i find that very good,it even tells you where the speed cameras are .
