I am out of my anti inflammatories and pain killers and I rang the doc yesterday for a prescription and was talking to the other new doctor in the practice not my own. I explained what I wanted and my husband has just collected the prescription and dropped it into chemist - the names of the tablets were different but he was told by the chemist that they were the same. He is waiting to collect and see what they are and then say something if needs be. Do doctors push other medicines because I want the ones Im used to not any other or am I over reacting. A long time ago I took a different inflammatory and my blood pressure went sky high - could have been a coincidence I dont know. Im just mad at the moment and slightly pi$$ed off !

I will but my husband isnt home yet. I just wish they wouldnt do that. I could do with a packet of yum yums, and some chocolate mints !
Many tablets and medicines have a generic name and a brand name. I remember once laughing at a woman in the GP surgery who was loudly moaning that she didn't want the salbutmol inhaler she had just collected from the chemist, she wanted Ventolin as it was much better than salbutamol.pmsl

doctors just write the prescription - it will depend on what "brand" of the same tablet the chemist has in. If the chemist has said the tablets are the same why are you ruffled around the boa? why are you mad? You are getting your tablets! Write the names on here and we will son tel you if they are the same (although why you wouldn't believe the chemist is beyond me!
they may be a new drug with less side-effects etc. - I think you can get addicted to pain killers and you are already furious, mad and slightly pi$$ed off without even seeing them!
And once again, agree entirely with bednobs... It's getting to be a habit! I think you're getting yourself worked up.

Our nearest M & S is at least half an hour away unfortunately although we will have a new one within 5 mins in the next couple of years so if you can wait that long Mrs O. He's back - the chemist gave me my ones - the doc had other ones on prescription. and I am hot under the collar bedknobs because I have been undiagnosed for 20 years and in pain all the time and it can get a wee bit frustrating at times. Sqad will probably come on and give out to me now also
Ahem....both mcfluff and I already said what bednobs did about brand names China.lol

I dont ever take the full dose of pain killers - I take 2 or in very bad times 4 a day when I can take 8. I am not a medical person but rely on them and it is frustrating. I want the tablets Im used to so I can try and keep some of the pain at bay and dont have to take more -
carrot99,I have never heard of anti-inflammatories being addictive, usually opioid paainkillers are the ones you have to worry about....like the ones I take :-/

I did get a blood test with a very high inflammation level recently and now have appointment in February with the rheumatologist
*painkillers* and I haven't even taken any today.lol
jays_son,you don't get withdrawal symptoms from anti-inflammatories.As I said the addiction is more likely with opioids such as codiene,Tramadol,Morphine etc. and the tranquilisers you refer to.
