Oxford

We're spending a few days in Oxford in early December. We've done some of the obvious things previously, such as a tour of Christ Church, a few beers in The Bird and Bairn - yes, I know, but that's MY name for it - the History of Science Museum etc.
Any ideas for other things to do, places to go, bearing in mind that we'll be on foot? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

The Pitt-Rivers Museum and the next-door Museum of Natural History both contain a mine of fascinating stuff.
The Ashmolean Museum has just been re-opened following a revamp.
Afternoon tea at the Randolph Hotel
Tour of the Bodleian Library, if that's your sort of thing
Browsing in the Covered Market (if wet)

All the below plus change the bird and baby for the Turf Tavern if you can find it you won't be disappointed. (left turn down the alley just under the Bridge of Sighs by the Sheldonian

For a great skyline view don't go up the tower at Carfax but go up the Tower of St. Mary's over on the High street.
The Botanic gardens are nice - although not much to see in December!

Blackwells opposite the Sheldonian, next to the White horse is the ulimate book shop - looks like an old rickety timber framed building but the Norrinton room downstairs opens Harry-Potter style up into a huge underground Cavern of books

Treat yourself to a cocktail in the Morse Bar in The Randolf. Wow ! they are lovely. Also we really enjoyed the open top bus tour but wrap up well.

Oh I almost forgot - treat yourself to tea and cakes at Maison Blanc Patisserie just up from the Eagle and child.

I'm on a guided tour of the new Ashmolean next Tuesday.

Or if you fancy something cheaper and more ethnic take a stroll along the Cowley road - the Jamaican High Low eating house is an experience you won't forget in a hurry!

Or plenty of bistros along Little Clarenden street

Thank you all for your suggestions. One or two of them done before, but that's no reason why they can't be done again. As I'll be padding around in sweater, jeans and desert-boots throughout, I'm not convinced the Randolph will welcome us with open arms! However, everything else has been noted and we'll certainly do our best to carry all of the ideas out. Again, our thanks.
