dublin

Can anyone recommend a nice reasonably priced hotel in Dublin please? I am looking to book a few days away for my retired parents - so needs to be nice and central but not noisy ..... also - can anyone tell me how far the airport is from the city centre in miles/time please?

we are going next sunday and stopping at cassidys.....i'll let you know if its any good....we went last year and the airport is a fair distance and quite expensive in a cab we since learnt its best to get a bus or tram to euston station which is just by the city centre....
oh and we stopped at the best western ashling last year right by euston bus station it was not to bad and not to far from the city a nice walk........p.s dont drive round dublin its a nightmare.....quicker walking,or jump on a tour bus a couple of euro and you can jump on and off almost any where in the city
If your parents aren't driving, I suggest the Jury's Inns - the one on the quays is central and very modern & comfortable; pay by the room. Other Jury's Inns are well served by public transport. If you're looking for quiet, you should be fine if you avoid Temple Bar hotels; the area is the hub of Dublin night life and doesn't die down until about dawn!
We absolutely love The Arlington Hotel -O Connell Bridge. It's very centralised and has free Irish dancing at the bar every night! Its a very popular hotel. Take a look at prices on: www.arlington.ie
Make sure you dont choose the Temple Bar Arlington Hotel which is it's sister hotel, its alright but not half as good as O Connell Bridge one.
Jury's Inn Parnell Street is a perfect choice. Its minutes from Henry Street/O' Connell Street/Trains/Bus! Its very quiet too!
Airport is about 8 miles or 13 kilometres from the city! About 30 minutes to get there....depending on traffic.
Taxi will cost 35-40....best to use the airport shuttle from (O' Connell Street) only 8!
