Hi,

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Applegarth Villa for 3 nites last year and it was gorgeous, we loved it. They have a restaurant on the side which is bit pricey but there are plenty of places within walking distance to get a nice meal.

The best bit is the bar, It's just like a huge sitting room, loads of comfy sofa's and a big roaring fire. lush!

It's on College Road, Windermere, LA23 1BU.

Rayrigg Villa Guest House at the top end of the main street in Windermere is very nice. We stayed a few years ago but have just Googled it and still looks nice. Not actually in Bownesss but very near. says 65 to 80 for 2 per room but might be cheaper out of season. I do remember a lovely room and breakfast.
Cambridge House in windermere 015394 43846 or www.cambridge-house.net, nice reasonably priced place good location, stayed there several times, the owners are really friendly, great breakfast and you get use of leisure facilities included.
