Bulgaria / Balkan Holidays

I've just seen a holiday to Nessebur (June 2009) in Bulgaria with Balkan Holidays. One friend I know loves it, and the other hated it. I was told that there's not a lot to do unless you like beaches - is it one of those places you either love or hate ?
