has anyone been traveling and one of the passengers pass away? Is there a problem getting the person home again? Do you need any special permission or realease from the persons family? Thanks for you help

You put the whole thing in the hands of their insurance company - they will take care of the legal and (expensive) financial issues.

If they don't have insurance walk away from the problem.
To cut a very long and sad story short - my friend's husband died while they were abroad, it took her 7 weeks to get him home and she wasn't allowed to leave the country without him. They did have a very good travel insurance but their hands were tied because of the red tape.
Depends on the country you are in, they all have different rules. Europe would be much easier than say India or Dubai and someone has to accompany the body on the flight. Just hope your insurance works, if you are a young person then travel insurance can be bought anywhere but if you are older read all the small print, thats why its so expensive to get insurance for people with existing medical problems.
