yes 'we' went but there is naff all there so whats the point going back?
The race to the moon was a race between the USA and Russia, it was about these two countries trying to prove they were the best.

Once the USA had been there (assuming they did) then they had proved to the world that the USA were the best.

While public interest was high for the first few moon landings, interest tailed off very quickly. Apollo 13 was not even being shown on TV until the explosion and the thought they may not get back.

The other problem was that each trip was expensive and the rocket was only used once. It was felt that by using a device that can "land" back on earth they could reuse some of the rocket, hence the space shutle.

They have also been building the space station as that is project shared by many countries.
i had two weeks there last year. booked it through thomas cooks
beach is huge, not touristy at all. straight through passport control on landing.
only down side is; when you go out at night it's bland, no atmosphere!
sorry.

Isn't Richard Branson planning on offering a regular service to the moon? Looking forward to that brochure hitting the travel agents shelves!
I heard that British Scareways were going to start shuttle flights to the moon in 2057 but have had to cancel that because they are still held up with the baggage here.
USA recently decided not to go back on moon for two reasons.

1 - There is no oil.

2 - There is no al Qaeeda . because CIA could not recruit any there. Or may be they did not want to because of the first reason.
