How easy is it, could you do it ?

For example, I have spelled the question after the fashion of a certain poster on here - does that mean I AM him/her ?

If you wanted to hide the real you, how easy is it to post long-term in a way that is out of your real character ?

Could you manage to run say 3 entirely different characters in parallel ? (hint keep notes and be consistent. If caught out, lie brazenly, LOLs are invaluable in emergencies, PMSLs are a coward's way out)

Nope, not a hope in hell for me personally. I have a habit of slipping into Lancashire dialect in written form and I'm sure that would inadvertently slip out at the wrong time.

Besides- I genuinely couldn't cope with the stress of being caught out, it's just not worth it.

Thirdly- love your new username, whoever you are!

Thanks for your valuable contribution Zacsmaster.

I am interested, which is why I asked it.
Do I detect a little sarcasm here?

Flobbergob looks a fresh green to me - but through tinted glasses colours can be misleading!

I wonder how a newbie could possibly know the fashion of a certain poster.

Me thinks AnswerBank Terms of Use and Site Rules are being abused somewhat . . .do I look green, or what?
People have been doing this for a very long time. Some are very good at it. Others are not.

It is very possible for one person to have a dozen or so names - so I've been told by probably the main imposterererer on this site.

It's a boredom thing - apparently.
no what would be the point. I dont play games

Now sir.prize raises yet another all-too-common misapprehension - that anybody green is necessarily new !

Not so, many people browse for months without joining, so upon finally taking the plunge they know quite a bit about the trees and the scenery.
but does it matter what name is. I answer a question as it comes
I don't think I'd be very good at it.

I could probably change my typing style and add more kisses or something but ultimately I think my sense of humour would slip in there. Plus if anyone asks about shoes or cheese I wouldn't be able to help myself.
I wouldnt be able to pretend to be someone else. Anyone who knew me would suss me out straight away.

I have done about 4 aliases on here over the last almost 3 years, all in fun and no nastiness whatsoever, one lasted 3 posts, one lasted 2 posts and the others lasted maybe 4 posts before I outed myself by forgetting I was in another name and just posted as myself lol Most folks who were online at the time knew they were me anyhow lol
I tried it once many months ago.
I got a different user name and posted a question in one of the other topics.

It went well entirely up to the time I answered the one and only contributer with my 'usual' name................about 4 minutes later.....

I gave up there and then. And although the content of 'impostering' threads can be irritating, I have a sneaking admiration for those 'as can'.....
Guess I'm just not cut out for subterfuge.
flobbergob (good name!) do you like trains ?

Anyway, to answer your question, I believe it is impossible to keep up a dual or triple existence without tripping up and being caught out, but I agree with your advice about telling fibs.

Why some do this, I don't know. But I'm guessing they do just for the sake of being idle and mischievous. I know I couldn't; it's such a waste of time.
pmsl at jackthehat

I have occasionally wanted to ask a personal question and thought about using a new name but thought that if anyone I genuinely knew answered me I would feel really bad replying to them in a different name.
Is that so, whiffey...?
I know of somebody who conducted an entire love affair on here all by herself. Courting, dates, heavy petting, engagement, then married, and consummated it online (after 9pm). A beautiful baby ensued (cue kettle and cakes)

It was very amusing.
There are some who do and can .I prefer to use variations of the same name and say what i think.Im criticised for my opinions , but at least you know theres no snideyness with me.Others use the occassional alias to abuse folk they dont have the nerve to do as themselves.I think it stems from insecurity and possibly lack of confidence. If its for fun then fair enough , but most are for abusing and starting the vile paedo abuse which is all too common on here now both night and day .

Then again it might just be because they think theyre clever and everyone else is stupid.
We will never know really.

No, I do NOT like trains, nor before you ask do I like Masterchef, curries, or Cat Deeley, infact if she came anywhere near me I'd wring her scrawny Scottish neck.

Excellent answers otherwise.
Cat Deeley's from Stoke
and she has a hairy face!!
She's not, she's from Birmingham and she's bloody gorgeous.
