i'm going to Luxor for 2 weeks on the 23rd, staying at the Emilio Inn. I know theres loads to see there, I'd really like to get a list of things 'not to be missed' & any other advice on places to go, things to see, best places to book through etc.
thanks :)

Don't book excursions through your hotel walk along the river for about half a mile till you come to jolleys travel agency and book with them for a balloon ride at dawn It costs about 45 from them instead of 90 through hotel offices.they will also book camel or horse rides for you riding a horse along the banks of a Nile tributary and watching the birdlife is amazing cost about 4/5 an hour Hire a felucca and sail to some of the small islands in the river or just enjoy a sail, sorry can't remember exactly how much but only costs a few pounds an hour. Haggle for everything If you hire a horse drawn carriage be very careful as a lot of the drivers are rogues and not only try to rip you off but illtreat theis horses at the same time.Don't let them take you to their friends shops as you'll either be ripped off or have a bit of unpleasantness to get away from them.Taxis are quite cheap but again haggle hard to get a fair price. You can walk to a few of the temples and tombs but trips further afield aren't expensive again book with Jolleys past the old Winter Palace Hotel accross the road from the Nile Have a great trip we did!
