Hi, I am soon to go to new york and when I got my travel money from M&S the notes now seem to be tinted a colour. I alredy had some dollars from a previous trip but they are still the old dull colour. Does anyone know if the US have changed their paper money (as we sometimes do!) and whether my plain dollars are still legal tender? many thanks

Your old ones are certainly good... To my knowledge, the $1 bill has not been changed and no plans since counterfeiters don't use that small of denomination. The $10, $20 and $50 have already gone through a color (colour?) change with the addition of the $100 planned sometime in the near future. In addition to the coloration, other, visible changes have been incorporated, such as:
"Hold the bill up to the light and look for the security thread running vertically through the note. If you look closely, you can see the words "USA TEN" printed on the $10 note, "USA TWENTY" printed on the $20 note thread, and "USA 50" printed on the $50 note thread. The security thread is visible from both sides of the note. " ... From the U.S. Treasury site...
The notes are being changed. As you say the new ones have more colour, also the portaits on them are larger.

Your old notes are still perfectly valid.
