Briefly, I have two computers. A 'laptop' for easy access to the internet whilst downstairs, and a more sophisticated 'Desktop tower' upstairs; in a so called Study. Both are programmed with the same Username and Email address.
When I registered with AB I did so via the 'laptop'.However, I was somewhat suprised to discover that AB could (and still can be ) accessed fully by the 'Desktop' without my having to 'sign-in' with a password.
What's the reason for the position which prevails?. Has it something to do with my Email address being transmitted every time I go 'on-line' ?

I suspect you must have signed in with the desktop at some point and just forgotten about it.

No way jenstar.!! There must be some other explanation.
Nevertheles, I thank you for the thought, which may have been the case, but I am so certain that I didn't sign-on the desktop; but on the other hand we all sometimes forget the actual things we have done. Thanks ...Ron (the tail end of Vivandorron.....my wife Viv takes precedence.)
Either jenstar is correct or you copied your profile from the laptop to the desktop, taking all the cookies with it.

Automatic AB sign-on is done using cookies, so if you delete the cookie that looks something like "[email protected][1].txt" from the desktop computer, it won't automatically sign in anymore.

You have made me think very hard and the thought comes to mind that perhaps I accessed AB on the 'Desktop' and gave my username and password so that I could move about the site. Cookies were then introduced at that stage.
Thanks folks.......R.
