How can I find North using a watch?

I know it's got something to do with pointing 12 at the sun and North is somewhere round the dial, but where?

You point the hour hand at the sun. South is halfway between the hour hand and 12. Except in British Summer Time when it's between 1 not 12.

thats novel, but a reasonable compass only costs a tenner!
and is a fair bit easier and more accurate.
