YES keep your Glucometer with you, I have been on Many trips including the USA since I had Diabetes and never been questioned, do you belong to Diabetic UK they produce a balance magazine, and you get a card with your Name on and states you are Diabetic and can keep this card in your wallet. The bag goes through the X Ray machine at airport but they have never asked me about the glucometer, they should know what it is .I had my bag checked prior to a service in Westminster Abbey and police looked at it and they said we know what it is, I just said I am diabetic. Have a good trip.

Do you use pens and / or syringes? Pens are no problem, but UK Airports Security restrict you to one syringe in the cabin (if they find them), so make sure you pack the majority in your case. I argued (and won) to take three on board in case one got damaged and if my luggage got lost I would need time to replace them.

Make sure you have a doctors note. Under no circumstances check in any insulin as it will freeze and destroy it.

What do you mean by dont check in my insulin? Can this be carried in my hand luggage?

It must be kept in your hand luggage or it will be damaged. Your suitcase get very cold! Security are aware of insulin and is not a problem.

Also, consider getting a Frio wallet (google for Frio) as it helps keep insulin cool in Spain

Ok Thanks uv been a great help!

Yes you can take your insulin on board with you - my husband does it all the time - even flying over here to USA.

We have never been asked to show the insulin and pen and needles after they have been scannned.

Do not under any circumstances put your insulin in your case - it will freeze in the hold

If in doubt just ask when you check in.
