I'm off to Nepal soon to do some trekking up to Everest Base camp. I want to buy some of my basic equipment when I get there, such as hiking poles, Gaiters etc. Can anyone tell me whether this is (a.) A sensible thing to do and (b.) whether its best to prepare to pay in Dollars or local currency.

Cheers

hey

you've probably already been and gone, but if not, yes you can buy it all in kathmandu - it's much cheaper - and as long as you have credit card or trav cheques or dollars that's all good...
