She has incurable emphysema, it was not possible for her to keep working. A one off allows them to make allowances for her health.

plus emmerdale is filmed in Leeds not Salford which is miles off where she lives (Leeds)

Whilst it will be great to see her on screen again, albeit briefly, i have to say it is rather a childish headline in the Yorkshire Post (Leeds 1 Manchester 0). 34 years as Vera in Corrie, so surely the headline ought to read; Leeds 1 Manchester, oh i don't know, about a zillion:-)

I thought she had died, good to see her again. She lived next door to my MIL when she first started on Corrie.
