A great Politician and quite a character.
Well he was 98.

A double first at Oxford and a distinguished WW2 record.

RIP Denis !
RIP.
It does feel like the end of an era. He commanded my uncle's unit in Italy in WW2 and I know Mum wrote to him when my uncle died - and received a reply. We'll always be using 'Healey eyebrows' as a description. R.I.P..
oh dear.. RIP..
A life well lived Denis. I had no idea he was military landing officer for the British assault brigade at Anzio.
I was hoping he would hang on for the big triple figures. I saw him on the TV a few months ago, and he looked remarkable. I know he kept himself very fit.
Healey never said, 'Silly Billy' originally. It was used by the impressionist Mike Yarwood in a take-off of him. Healey adopted it and began to use it.
RIP Denis.
Question Author
One of the last Labour politician to really put the wind up the Tories.
I think he was the one who first used the term "hinterland", implying politicans should know about things outside politics. He lived a very full life.
Hilly Billy

And everyone else when he devalued the £ and went begging to the IMF.
RIP Denis.
Useful photographer, lousy Chancellor - Unearned income tax at 98% and "I would tax them at 101% in the pound - if I could." Responsible for the brain drain back then.

Rest in pecuniary peace.
Corbyn called him 'a Labour giant'.

200/1 that's how he himself will be remembered. Any takers?
Got to be worth a tenner.
