my brother is going to Krakow in Poland this weekend

are there any good places he can visit ? and any good places to eat / drink

Friends go to Krakow every year and love it. PLENTY cheap places to eat and drink and stay.

To see man's inhumanity to man then he could visit Auschwitch,the German extermination camp utilised in the 1939 - 1945 war,to exterminate millions.

Yes autchwitz is a must also the salt mines are a really good trip, there are loads of bars in Kraków main square all down the alley ways it's a really lovely city.

Krakow is a fantastic place - without a doubt my favourite European city.

Everything is pretty much walkable, which has always been a big draw for me.

You are spoilt for places to eat and drink, from trendy bars and restaurants to old cellar bars and restaurants - and all food and drink is very reasonably priced, even in Rynek Glowny.

I always stay in what was the Jewish Ghetto - Kazimierz - and on some buildings, mainly in courtyards, you can still see bullett holes. Wandering around this part of Krakow is fantastic because you can walk down an alley not expecting anything at the end of it, turn a corner and you discover a square you didn't know existing which is full of bars and restaurants.

Auschwitz is a must, but its about a 40 minute taxi ride away.

The Schindler factory is good.

The salt mine is also a very good tour - about a 10 minute cab ride from the centre.

But best of all is sitting outside at a bar with friends, and in this weather with an endless supply of coffee and brandy and watching the world go by.

PS - the local women are stunning.

don't eat in the restaurants round the town square: overpriced and bad food for tourists. Lots of good ones in back streets (it's a few years since I was last there so I won't recomment any in particular).
