Passport requirements for Ireland

I want to visit Ireland in October but I will have less than 3 months left on my passport.


I am a UK subject and will be visiting from the UK

oops, there is no question  in the above - what I meant is can you travel to Ireland with less than 3 months left on your passport?
Not so sure, though you should have enought time between now and October to get a nice shiney new one before you go!!
You don't need a passport to visit Ireland if you are a UK citizen!
Sorry, I should mention that you will need a valid form of photo ID (driving licence etc)

Have been doing more research - seems that I don't need a passport although the airline will want one as ID.

Dinsdale - I am away for September so need my passport with me and I am going to be changing my name so I think it could take a while anyway for my shiney new one to arrive.
