Does anyone know, or know where I could find the answer to the question of how many people are in the air at anyone time during the day, preferably the busiest point of any day.

There was an article in the Daily Mail (I think it was) last week about the programme 'Lost' and I'm fairly sure it said that there were 500,000 people in the air at any one time. (Roughly equivalent to the population of Liverpool).

I remember seeing a programme a couple of years ago which stated that at any one time there are 1 million people in the air around the world.
