Not good, and a very sad state of affairs.
The dilemma is that tourism has been relied on for a living so widely - not where this incident occurred though.
Why would we not be ? Do you think this indicates that the country is less safe for tourists than before ?
Er, well yes it does Fred. I dont suppose they care to much about where you come from if they get it into your head you have done something (even if you have not)

Egypt has always had it's problems though.
I have been to Egypt several times and have always felt safe - so yes I would still go there on my holidays.
Good old AOG - scouring the world to protect the Brits. Where would we be without him ?
Maybe its why we have dictators in the first place. At least it kept those countries in reasonable order as they knew the consequences. We the politicians think they are giving freedom to the population. However if you suddenly released all the caged wild animals from zoos you would get equal carnage. I suppose someone will say they are not wild animals..really!
Canary, what an odd thing to say. Why wold it just be Britts?

Or are you just scrapping the barrel to have a go at AOG?

I agree in principle pdq. It has been shown repeatedly that removing the dictator leaved a country in carnage for years. Quite what the answer is who knows?
//Do you think this indicates that the country is less safe for tourists than before ?//

//Er, well yes it does Fred.//

Really?

Yes according to jake-the-peg's link (hope the Apostrophe is in the correct place) it is not a new phenomenon, so it must be all down to their culture and vicious mindset.

I've never been to Egypt so I'm still happy not to spend my holidays there. The tourist resorts tend to be more self-sufficient (according to friends and family who have been) - it's only if you go without a tour that people are more at risk. IMO.

/// Lmao, we have done our share of massacring AOG. ///

Not seen any swinging upside down from lamp posts near me.
not a place i particularly want to go to, and now that they have had a regime change, it's even less likely.
I've been to egypt many times and will go again.
Would you be frightened to visit Egypt now , aog ? No, surely. Neither would I be. If we were to proceed on the basis that no country should be visited because it has incidents like this, or was "a country such as this", we'd be depriving ourselves of a lot..
I'm with FredPuli43 on this.

I simply won't allow my life to be governed by fear.

At some point in the future, I may elect to take a cruise. I won't be soiling myself with fear because of the Concordia.

Next year, I'm going to New York for an Easter break. At no point will my bladder loosen at the fear of a terrorist hijack.

Likewise, the French Alps is on my list of places to visit. I will not sit trembling outside a boulangerie, fearing that I'm about to be riddled with bullets.

Life (for me, anyway) simply isn't governed by terror.

I feel genuine sadness for those whose lives are blighted like that.

Must be incredibly debilitating.

What do you know about Egyptian culture?

This isn't an attack...I'm genuinely interested. I know practically nothing (outside what I have seen in 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark').

What's your take on it?

Again...not having a go, just interested to hear how much you know.
I was in Luxor nearly two years ago during the protests and never felt in any danger. A few years ago in sharm a bomb went off in the shopping centre I had been buying gifts in the day before. Last year I was on a Nile cruise and never gave safety a second thought.
Lets not forget there are many families who have lost loved ones in this country, should people stop coming here?

I Wonder How Many Of You Will Still Be Happy To Spend Their Holidays In A Country Such As This?
