What is the weather normally like in the lake district in August?

I am thinking of booking a short break for the beginning of August in Keswick.

Thanks

I live in the Lake District and believe me the weather is very unpredictable.  Over the last few days, it's been sunny and hot one minute, and grey and dull the next.  you cannot guarnatee sun even in August!

Having said that I should do my bit for Lake District tourism and say that there is plenty to see and do whatever the weather.

Keswick has plenty of shops and touristy things to do.

Enjoy your trip.

Hello ShellyHall thank you for you'e reply.

I suppose it shouldn't matter what the weather is like as long as i enjoy the scenery with my loved one.

Thanks again

I agree with ShellyHall, you can't predict the weather up there. One August Bank Holiday it was very warm & sunny in Manchester so we went up to the Lakes - and it poured down like a monsoon. However, on another August occasion the weather around Ambleside & Grasmere was lovely.

Fingers crossed for you!

It's like anywhere in this country, you just can't tell! I went to Kendal on Friday where it was warm and dry though cloudy. Apparently it chucked it down in Liverpool!

I'm sure you couldn't guarantee the weather for the beginning of August for where you live!
It is an old one - But it is not called the lake district for nothing. How do you think the lakes got there!!!! lol
