sleep apnea machine on Ryanair

I am flying to Malaga with Ryanair and I need to take my sleep apnea machine with me. Will this be considered part of my baggage allowance or is it treated as additional to the normal allowance?

Itook my machine on a flight from city airport , the check in girl said my laptop would be hand luggage, I pointed out that although it looked like a laptop case it was in fact an apnoea machine, she then said as it was medical equipment it was not part of my allowance. other carriers may differ, suggest you ring ryanair to check their policy regarding medical equipment.
I'd get in touch with them, look at the ordeal this poor woman went through
