Monsall Dale Camping

Hi, my son and his friend have purchased a tent and a couple of sleeping bags and have a week off work and would like to go camping at Monsall dale can any one give any advice on cheap campsites and suggested walks, this is the first time they have tried camping and would perhaps like to even swap sites during the week, he also wonders if its posibe to camp in woods or beside rivers without having to pay pitch fee's, i have no idea but i said i bet i know a man or woman that does hence being on here.

Land-owners tend to get annoyed with people who camp, without authorisation, on their land. I certainly wouldn't recommend it!
