August holiday - best places

I have a special birthday in late August and would like to go away for a few days - up to one week. Needs to be warm (but not very very hot), possibly a beach or spa holiday, totally relaxing/chill out type of place. What's the weather like in Carribean / Thailand / Mauritius at that time of year?

Not too worried about cost but don't want to spend entire time travelling from UK - any suggestions please?

I would recommend the Four Seasons 5-star hotel in Limassol, Cyprus. The temperature will be 80 degrees at least, and the flight is just 4.5hours from the UK.

I was 30 last month and went for a week-  it is one of the best hotels in Cyprus, has a superb spa and beach, and top quality food. The Cypriots favour it for their wedding receptions, and lots of UK stars stay there, although it is not pretentious.

I had a superb meal, birthday cake and a very special welcome. The hotel was revamped over the winter, and every room from the cheapest to the most expensive has its own jacuzzi.

PS I don't work for them or anything, before you ask!

Weather in Thailand is unpredictable in August, may rain all day, for 2 hours, or not at all.  BBC website has a good section on average monthly weather conditions in major cities

hurricane season in the Caribbean, and they're predicting a busy one. The actual threat is slightly overrated - there's a lot of sea out there; most hurricanes hit land only once or twice, there may be only three or four that do so, so your chances of seeing one would be slim. But you'd certainly know if one hit you. Places like Aruba are out of the hurricane zone, and though it's hot there are sea breezes.
