Unfortunately Palma Nova in its entirety is on the doorstep of Magaluf. The two resorts are virtually now merged into one. I owned an apartment in Palma Nova but sold it some years ago because the influence of Magaluf seemed to be spreading ever ever more eastwards.

Had a great family holiday at the Hotel Tobago, booked it with alpharooms and got a good price, we all had a good time in the hotel and resort.

Have you tried Son Caliu? it is at the other end of Palma Nova from Magaluf and is much quieter. Stay clear of Torrenova area!

i know magalufs very close to palma nova but having stayed in both resorts p.nova always seemed bit more relaxed and quieter,we will be going mid may so shouldn't be too busy,so you think the torrenova end will be full of singletons and magalluf bunch?better have a rethink, might look at ibiza..

Hi, the Torrenova area is close to the Magaluf madness as it is sometimes called as it sort of joins the 2 resorts together. The other end of Palma Nova is a lot quieter. Another option would maybe Sant Ponsa which is not as wild as Magaluf but still plenty going on. I like it there but seen so many good reviews on the Sol Guadalupe hotel in Magaluf I thought I would give that a try. It's in the quieter end of Magaluf down by the Pirate Theatre.

hi,shedman,i was looking at santa ponsa but reviews put me off saying they had nightclub 'strip' and all pie and chips grub, which i didn't mind in my magaluf madness days but appreciate the nicer type of food nowadays!haha, its so hard to find somewhere, reading reviews you never find anywhere just right!is portals nous a holiday resort as such?

Hi, there is an area of Santa Ponsa which is called the Irish quarter which is madder than the rest, but most of SP is fine for famillies and there are a few decent restaurants. I like going at the end of May to June and have been to the Irish quarter and it has been fine, not as loud as Magaluf and not seen any trouble. The square in SP has plenty of nice bars and restaurants and has entertainment for adults and children each night. I have not been to Portals Nous but have heard it is very nice with some good restaurants but more expensive than the other places. If you really want Palma Nova though just go to the site I put on earlier and there are a few people who can give you more info and probably put your mind at ease. If you fancy SP then go to the SP area of the site and one of that areas DE will be more than willing to help you.

If you still fancy Palma Nova after all I can highly recommend the Viva Palma Nova. We stayed there last year in August and it is fantastic for kids. Has excellent facilities and is a very short walk (down a lot of steps) to the beach. My OH has family in Majorca so we've been a lot and obviously the days before children we loved Magaluf but now like yourself dont want all that. I have never had any problems in Palma Nova.

| We want to go to Majorca as my hubby has family there who we haven't seen in ages. They live near Palma and previously we have stayed in Magaluf/Palma Nova but I'm sick of it there and want to go to a... |
