Hi - we have booked a holiday in summer to Kenya (2 adults and 16,13 years old)- this is in a place called "voyager" resort and with a 3 day safari. As newcomers to this kinfd of thing I am looking for tips for the Safari bit, and from anyone who has stayed at this hotel (we are doing all inclusive)

Also it appears we are flying with a chartered airline - Monarch but more likely Excel from gatwick - have read terrible reviews on these (and for a price, we can upgrade to a scheduled airline) - has anyone flown on this route

Any comments/views/help alll gratefully received !!

Tahe a camera with a long lens, if you're into photography. Very irritating to get home and find those magnificent lions have been reduced to dots in the distance. Mind you, I did hear of a Japanese tourist a couple of years back who got out of his jeep to have his photo taken next to a sleeping lion. He did not get home. True story, apparently; but no Brit would be that dumb, right?

Hello! We went to Kenya last year in March and has THE most wonderful holiday, we stayed on the South Beach (Diani) at the Indian Ocean Beach Club. We did a safari for two days at Tsvo East which was fab, the red dust tracks are awsome at sunrise and sunset ..... as a previous writer said Africa does get under your skin and is a fabulous place to visit. Mombassa is fine and I felt safe there, as for the flight we flew with African safari airways!  not bad considering we'd never heard of them! p.s. The first glimse of the Indian Ocean is just ....... sigh ...... to die for .... enjoy! ... oh and the diving at Wassini Island is WOW!

Take something warm to wear on early morning safari drives..im serious it is FREEZING at 4.30/5.00am. they usually provide blankets on the trucks but its not enough especially when you are driving along at a speed in an open truck, the wind can get quite unbearable if you are in a shorts and t-shirt/vest! I've been on five or six safaris and have learnt my lesson believe me!
