We are looking for a cheap mid week break for two adults. Any ideas anyone? Center Parcs looks too expensive. Warners looks like it's mainly for people who like golf and bowling and Butlins is geared towards children (those are the websites I've looked at so far). Thanks

You local paper often give mid week breaks Mon to Fri BB and EM plus trips out during the days you are there. Some even offer free beer and wine in the evening. My advice would be buy a local weekly paper.
Depends where you want to go, notafish - which part of the country?

Thank you for your answers so far. We would like to go somewhere in England. . .as far north as Lincolnshire, as far west as Dorset, anywhere in the South and anywhere in the East.
notafish - what are you looking to do when there - walk, visit museums, play golf, go fishing, enjoy the countryside, shop, etc. So impossible to advise location unless you tell what you want to see / do

Anything, but not golf or fishing. I'm really not fussy though. I want a cheap holiday for about 3 or 4 days. I don't particularly like B and Bs. Any suggestions would be helpful.
notafish - my list of suggestions was just of the top of head to really say you need to decide - nobody else can decide on what you would like / want. But you have said you don't want to B & B, so self cater ok? Just keep googling
Question Author
I just wondered if anyone had a good experience of a cheap holiday they could recommend. I have googled, but wanted people's recommendations really.
Question Author
not only recommendations though as I'd also be interested in any good ideas/suggestions anyone has. Thanks.
notafish - appreciate that but what is cheap? It's all relative. What would be amazing to me, you may think is sh!te
Question Author
If you know someone nice that you think is cheap,Tony, I would like to hear about it. I'm really not fussy and I'm open to suggestions. I guess I wouldn't want to spend more than £400, Thanks.

Not "someone", I meant "somewhere". :-)

Thanks very much 2wanda, I will have a look.
notafish - will you do self catering - or do you want hotel?
Have a look on the Superbreak website - my daughter and I went by train to York for 3 days, the cost included the train and hotel. There are lots of suggestions in there. Alternatively my husband and I are going down to Eastbourne for a few days, intend to look around, relax and enjoy the area. Nice looking hotel with breakfast, for two people, £147.
Question Author
Thanks jamesnan, I'll have a look into that too.
Yes Tony, I like both hotels and self catering.

I don't think Forest holidays are available at the mo. Superbreaks looks good. Any more inspiration? Thanks

How about a weekend in London? Book a single train ticket each way (cheapest method) and acouple of nights in a Premire Inn or Travelodge and you're away.

Once you're there you can wander along the Southbank with much to see and do for very little cost. Call into the Tate Modern take a boat trip and finish with a reasonably priced meal in China Town or Covent Garden. Next day watch the changing of the guard (free) and have a wander in St James Park down to Buckingham Palace. And so on.........................
