Hello again, Bearface

Myanmar (Burma) doesn't appear on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office list of 'don't travel' destinations:

but they do advise a certain amount of caution

The Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board might be able to offer you some assistance. Use the 'Contact Us' link here:

The only international flights directly into Mandalay are with China Eastern from Kunming Airport, in China. That's not a convenient route from Europe, so you'll have to travel via Yangon (formerly Rangoon). There are no flights to Yangon (or anywhere else in Myanmar) directly from Europe, so you'll have to travel via Bangkok or Singapore .

For some random dates I've tried, Thai Airways will get you from Heathrow to Yangon (via Bangkok) for £721.30:

Then Yangon Airways can get you from Yangon to Mandalay for US$84 each way:

With road tax hikes hitting those with 2001-2006 registered cars, would you consider selling up and buying a pre-2001 model to escape the the tax mans wrath?

Yes

No

The hikes don't really bother me
