You don't fill in a form on the plane any more - you do it online at least 72 hours before travelling.

As to whether you'll get away with putting no - no idea. Probably. But remember those guys have a high grade *** detector

You may be able to convince yourself that saying no is not lying.
I've entered a few times with previous for Affray, Handling Stolen Goods, & TWOC but now I'm off a 4yr Sentence for Class A and am unsure where I stand now. I reckon you'd be ok, 5 million brits enter the US each year, they cant check everyone, but some people may have their names marked, like me I'm thinking!
fill in your on line ESTA and if they accept you, you are halfway there, but and its a big but, you still could travel all the way there and be refused at immigration and sent back home, its a chance you will have to take, so if you are willing to do that remember the cameras are watching out for you and your body language from the minute you step off the plane so act cool.Make sure you already have a hotel & address to give them they are more suspicious of people whose plans are vague in case they overstay. It wont be easy, but I know plenty of people who have been okay.
