Had a short break in London recently?

My 16 yr old daughter and I are considering a 2 or 3 night break in London in early August, and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere they may have stayed centrally. I don't really want to spend more than £100 or so per night, so may have to consider

a) somewhere such as Premier Inn or that type where they charge per room,

or

b) a hotel where I can use Tesco clubcard vouchers.


Or if you know of any good B & Bs that are central that might work too...... anyway, I hope to hear some good recommendations from you!

I live near London so don't have to stay there, I just go home ! However if you are going on day trips, use your Tesco Rewards Points for Days Out. I have mentioned on AB before, I got tickets for Mme Tussauds and the Tower of London, both really recommended, and we got in for free with our Tesco vouchers which will save you a lot of money. Also if you want to go around London on a Bus tour, instead of paying for an open top bus, get the Number 6 or 15, it will take you all through Central London, from Marble Arch around Piccadilly to the City. You can get on and off as much as you like. Get a bus map of London and use a travelcard for the day, you can use this on the underground and the buses, and find the best routes to see what you want. Good luck ! By the way, there are probably web pages like 'London on the Cheap" to get money off days out. Enjoy and fingers crossed for the weather ! And watch your handbag .. You can also print off some restaurant vouchers where you can get two meals for the price of one. Try somewhere like Martins Money Tips, he has a weekly email with money-off restaurant vouchers all over London.

No not sarchastic I just thought as you asked about it you may not have known they had a website, trying to be helpful. If you want a cheap place to stay just basic thats the one. I stay at them when going to concerts and have never had any complaints. sorry if you took me wrong way.

Don't be put off by the word 'hostel' in that URL. Simply conduct an initial search, then use the 'Refine search' panel to deselect 'hostels' and select both 'hotels' and 'guesthouses'. (There are other options you might also like to select from that panel). Then check out the reviews carefully, and also check where the hotels are actually located. (Some 'London' hotels are right in the centre of the capital but others are quite a way out).

Closest one was ilford, I'm not the most confident driver so was easy for me to travel straight down A11 and then get underground from redbridge, it doesnt take long to get to all the main sites.

Mrs. N - if you book the Premier Inn - make sure you do it 21 days before your intended stay, because the £29.95 per room will only apply then. I made this mistake last week when trying to book a room for my son in Watford it was £55.00 plus per night. Lenny Henry does'nt mention this on the tv advert....... ha ha

Many thanks for all your answers - there's plenty of ideas there for me to consider! Although Premier Inn are offering £29 rooms, they certainly don't apply in London, where a room is MUCH more than that!

Has anyone got an opinion on the Best Western hotels in London at all?

Best Westerns will vary as they are individually owned (or small chains) and only come together for marketing purposes. They will meet a minimum standard for their star level but apart from that they are on their own and are unpredictable

If you can get one in your price range I would be happy with it. I've stayed in one near Victoria/Pimlico(sorry forget the name) and whilst it wasn't brilliant it was OK and good for the price in London.

whenever ive gone to London for the weekend i use both Guoman and Hilton hotels.

The Tower http://www.guoman.com...chby=city&city=London is coming up at £99 advance booking for a weekend in August (£10 pppn breakfast,but it is a buffet one and lovely) right ext to the Tower of London and the river.

or the Hilton docklands. It has its own jetty for the river buses.

Thanks again for all your replies - I have now gone ahead and booked a two night stay at Novotel Waterloo using my Tesco vouchers! Ideally I wanted a 3 night break, but they had no 3 consecutive nights available for Tesco vouchers, so I'm considering booking one night somewhere else..... maybe not too far from Paddington station, and paying with Real Money! Any recommendations anyone? I'm happy to pay up to £130 or so if it includes breakfast!
