Has anybody been to Lake Bled? what do you think of it as a holiday for a family? I am talking of next year [summer] have heard mixed feelings about it. Thanks

It is an extremely attractive location - picture postcard stuff. If the children are old enough take them around the castle. Otherwise much depends on your family's preferences - if they prefer Disneyland-type attractions, don't take them there. If you are a close family with an appreciation for natural beauty, tranquility, etc., do go because you will be glad you did. This is based on a visit there 20 years ago, it may have changed.

it's still like that, KARL. Extremely pretty but not really a resort town so if your kids are looking for theme parks or clubbing they may be disappointed. But if you're just looking to relax in the sun, go for the occasional stroll or take a boat to the church in the middle of the lake, it's fine.
