Ideas for where to go on holiday in August - Beach, dont mind about cost.

Hi,
Myself and my partner are planning to go on holiday towards the end of Aungust, and neither of us can decide where to go.
We are looking for a beach-type holiday, but where the local area is also interesting - don't want to be confined to the hotel. We have done all the usual places spain/canaries etc, and would like to try somewhere new!
I would love to go the the Dominican Republic, but not sure about risking the hurricane season.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!!!! :-)

Dom Rep is very just stay in your hotel.same for most of the islands except Cuba do a tour for 4-5 days the a beach hotel..& the same for mexico. Or what about a caribbean cruise....Or fly to Miami do everglades & attractions the dow to the keys or Miami beach areas.

my in-laws have just got back from parga on mainland Greece.
had a great time. pics look very good. lovely beach, sea nice and blue, and they said loads of places to eat, but very, very scenic.
not much for kids though, but then they are 60, so found that fine.
worth looking in the brochure
