Hi alison. I'm answering a few questions in this section!

My wife and I went to Mallorca in January. We had a hire car and spent two weeks driving 1057 miles and we travelled all around the island. It depends what sort of tourist areas you are hoping to see. Alcudia is a lovely town with its medieval walls and the remains of the Roman town are nearby. There is also a modern resort just a short distance away with marina and beach etc.
Port de Soller is a lovely resort set in a bay on the north coast. The Tramuntana Mountains are superb for walks if you like that as is the Formentor Peninsula near Alcudia.
The south of the island is more commercial with Santa Ponsa, Palmanova, Magaluf etc but Palma is a good place to visit. The shops and restaurants are good and the cathedral is not to be missed.
There are many little coves and inlets along the east coast with lots of resorts. They are all the same - palm-lined promenade, souvenir shops and long beach etc. There are also lots of areas where you can enjoy quiet walks along the cliffs and isolated beaches.

As I said, we went in January. The weather was superb and we had most places to ourselves. It's far busier in the summer if you like that but you can also find plenty of quiet places if you have transport. If you have children there are so many things for them but we don't have them so we didn't get involved in their attactions. There are lots of boat trips too. If you don't have your own transport then there are lots of organised excursions to all Mallorca's attractions.

Hope that helps and have a great time.

Caves of Drach always seem to be a popular tourist attraction:
