Destinations

Place to visit in Europe where I could drive

I am thinking about driving somewhere perhaps one of the long weekends with my family. Any suggestions within easy reach and cheaper way to stay there. Thanks

You say "within easy reach" but give us no idea where you live.

The answer could be very different if you live in say Scotland than if you live in say Kent (or you may live in Germany for all we know).

Ireland if you're anywhere in western Britain, very pretty place. Or do you mean fly/driving?

oops - sorry. I live in Middlesex not far from Heathrow Airport. But I would like to drive instead of flying.

le Shuttle will take you to Calais and you can then drive around Normandy, which is lovely country and full of history - the Bayeux tapestry, the D-Day landing beaches, cathedral cities, Mont St Michel etc. But you'll basically take half a day crossing each way, which won't leave much even of a long weekend.
