We are in our late 60's and we would like to go to the Canary Islands in March 2012, mainly because it will be warmer than Spain. However, how do we decide on which island? Can anyone give us any help please? I have heard that Lanzarote is popular, but so is Teneriffe. Has anyone been in March to either of these places. Any help appreciated. We would like a hotel with entertainment in the evenings as we will not be going clubbing !!

A good starting point would be to find out which islands you can flights to, in March, from your chosen airport(s). Let us know where you find it convenient to fly from and I'll do the research for you.

A bit of Googling suggests that Puerto de Mogán (Gran Canaria) might be suitable:

Thank you very much Chris for the advice. We never thought of Gran Canaria. My husband is doing some reading about all the islands. We will be flying from Manchester and we want to be away on 23rd March as it is our wedding anniversary.
Would definitely advise Gran Canaria as have been there once. Lanzarote is very volcanic and Tenerife has too many cockroaches.
the south of each island is generally warmer and sunnier than the north, if that's any help.
We've been to Tenerife several times, and I've never seen a cockroach! Fuerteventura is nice - less touristy than Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
Thanks for your reply.

A list of all flights to Gran Canaria from Manchester Airport can be found here:

That list also shows which tour operators use which charter flights.

We have been to Gran Can, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Fuertaventura. It all depends on what you want. F is quite. T is very touristy. Gran Can, i wasn't keen. I loved Lanzarote. Think about what you wasn't then go to trip advisor.com. Loads of reviews there.
My wife and I ( mid sixties ) have been to Gran Canaria for the past six years late January or early February. We go to Clubhotel Riu Gran Canaria, which is situated on the sea front in a lovely small resort called Melonaras.
It is a " all inclusive " hotel and has evening entertainment.
We really look forward to our visits here every year.
You can book through Thomsons, or book direct with the hotel.
I would advise you to read the reviews on Tripadvisor, or Thomsons, just to make sure it meets your requirements.
Hope this helps.
