how do you get the email account set up? I went to the email setup page and it wants credit card details etc. Surely it's part of the package, I'm confused.

You login on the Sky webpage with your Sky user name and password you set up with Sky.
That's it.

thanks thi is for an IT illiterate friend. They've given her a user name, should they have given her a password too, or is there a default value for the password initially?
It is not a good idea to tie yourself into a broadband company with an email address.

If your friend sets up an address [email protected] and then leaves Sky she loses the email address.

Far better to have an email address that is independant of your broadband provider.

Suggest she sets up a Googlemail or Hotmail email account and forgets doing one with Sky.

yes good idea VHG, that's what I do.
I have had a Freeserve address since 2002 .. Just make sure you don't use on web! Use a free disposable one for that .. you can dump it when the spamming sods get hold of it .. (unless you like buying American obsolete software and Viagra)

My mate had same problem .. Sky do not make it clear what you do to setup email. His password was one in introductory letter I think .. or one he got from Sky phone help. If you can find the letter, read that and check for a pass.
