I received an email from DHL re the collection of a parcel. I think it's a scam and was wondering if anyone else has received anything similar? Thanks.

Very likely.
not recently but it is a company that gets used a lot for scams
Millions of people have got them, there was a recorded warning on DHLs phone line about them a few weeks ago, don't know if there still is now.
Are you expecting a parcel?
Yes it is generally a scam but made to look like it has come from DHL. When you phone up with the tracking number you end up having to pay some fee. Are you expecting a parcel?

No I am not due to receive a parcel as far as I am aware at the mo.
call the main DHL number and take it from there.....not the number the e-mail gave you. They may be interested in having a copy of it if it is a scam......otherwise if it is a true delivery, they will have all the details.
Very probably Are you being asked to turn up at the local depot, or to ring a premium rate number ? Or send your payment card details and other info ?

Anyway why would they e-mail you when they can drop a card through your letterbox ?

This is a scam.

The first question to always ask is "did I give DHL my email address". If the answer is no then it will be a scam.

NEVER click on any attachemnts or links on emails like this or a virus will probably be installed on your PC.
I did about 3 weeks ago I don't think DHL do business like that I wasn't expecting anything so deleted it - if it was genuine they would write a letter I think - it just didn't look right to me - you normally get card through door
Was the email addresses to yourself by name?
Hover over any link provided. Does it go to the DHL website?
Are you expecting a parcel from them?

If the answer to either of these is no, then it is obviously a scam.
I get them quite regularly DHL do not send E-mails they leave a card through your door as do all courier companies. Delete it
It's not just a well-known scam, it's a well-known set of scams (used by multiple fraudsters)!

There are lots of versions of this one. The most basic is to tell you that you need to pay a 're-delivery fee', to get your (non-existent) package, which means handing over your credit/debit card details.

Alternatively (in another version of the scam) you'll be asked to download and open an attachment so that you can 'access the system'. That attachment will either be a virus or something like a key-logger (which will forward everything you type on your PC to a remote server, where the information will be automatically scanned to look for credit/debit card details which you might be providing to a perfectly legitimate website).

If someone uses DHL to send you a parcel, DHL will know your name and address (plus, probably, the name and address of the sender). What they most definitely won't know is your email address. So, if they genuinely need to contact you about a failed delivery, they'll simply put a note through your door (rather than send you an email).
