I sold an item for about 2 on Ebay early February. But the buyer is saying she still hasn't received it. Trouble is I can't find the receipt from the post office to prove I mailed it! What can I do?

You can still make a claim from the post office even if you haven't got a receipt. They send you a sniffy letter saying they will refund you this time, but next time you'll need a receipt.

To be honest, I would just give the person their money back and not worry about it. I don't think it's worth all the hassle of filling in claim forms etc just for 2. And if you leave this any longer you are at risk of getting negative feedback.

I do lots of selling and I now send people a refund straight away and then I either put a claim in or just not worry about it if it's a small amount.

Thanks Hermia, I'll just refund their money and I'll know in future to hold on to receipts! Cheers.

Also be aware that an increasing number of buyers are now trying it on by saying that they have not received the goods whereas in fact, they have. They then get a refund and so end up with the goods and their money back.
Don`t just keep receipts, cover yourself by sending everything by RECORDED delivery.
I always add a note in the postage details at the bottom "I will not be responsible for goods lost in the post". Personally I would not refund the money, but then that may affect your rating.

Hmm, she did have a very low feedback score. Thanks guys, I'll give them the option to pay for recorded delivery/insurance from now on. Luckily it was only for 2, eh?
